stenosis chicago

Stenosis is a Greek term meaning "narrowing or constricting space". This occurs in the spinal column where the spinal cord, nerve roots and vertebrae are located. Stenosis is a condition where the openings in the spine get smaller.  The problem of stenosis is the openings can get smaller and pinch your spinal cord or spinal nerves.

Severe Spinal Stenosis - Mabel Owens Now Lives a Pain Free Life

Mabel Owens was diagnosed with Spinal Stenosis in the 3rd, 4th and 5th vertebrae. Images showed mild bulges at the L1-L2 and L3-L4 discs as well as broad base bulging in the L2-L3 disc. Dislocation and minor bulging of the L5-S1 was also shown on Mabel’s MRI. Before coming to the Illinois Back Institute, Mabel had tried many different treatments. These treatments included physical therapies, chiropractors, and even steroids. The steroids caused Mabel’s left leg to become unusable for 3 hours. She knew she had to do something and the only other option she was given by many different back doctors, was surgery. Surgery was not an option for her.
